Stages of Life

Until the last stage

This print was created in dialogue with the poem ‘Stufen’ by Hermann Hesse, at a time in my life when its message resonated deeply with me. Our lives unfold in stages. Change and moving forward always feel like entering new rooms or exploring new levels of a building until one finally reaches the last stage. The artwork invites the viewer to reflect on their own life as they continue their journey—not with fear or anxiety, but with a sense of calm and confidence, fostered by the soothing effect of the blue pigments used for the architecture in the foreground.

The bold black border and the outlines in this artwork are highly characteristic of my connection to the masters of the Japonisme movement.
