Growing

This artwork was created during my studies of Japanese woodblock printing in Kyōto as a celebration of my growth, both in life and in my art practice; hence, the more elaborate but still very primary color palette. The botanical elements are less a representation of my connection to nature; rather, they symbolize my ideas and creations, which sprout from my head like rapidly growing leaves and berries. The waves—a well-known and frequently used motif in Japanese woodblock prints—carry me forward relentlessly and embody the constant flow of life.
